Dermicide |
||||
|
Dermicide is a collection that has been built up over the last four years. The figure is the subject matter and paint the preferred medium, predominantly in oils. They are from personal photographs, taken from a live model, then over exposed and edited before being worked from. Editing may comprise of cropping, overlaying and scaling. The works mainly address certain aspects of the human condition. Flesh, its tones malleability dominate the canvases. Vulnerability decay and despair are expressed through the paintings as is the blurring of line between pleasure and or pain, violence and or gratification. There is also a shallow underlay of faith and devotion emerging in a number of the works. |
